President Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4th, 1961. His father was Kenyan and his mother from Kansas. His father moved back to Kenya when Obama was young leaving his mother to raise him in Hawaii. Obama earned a B.A. from Columbia University. After graduating he moved to Chicago where he became a community organizer. Obama left to earn his law degree from Harvard. He returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer and teach constitutional law. He was elected to the Illinois Senate from 1997-2004 and the U.S. Senate from 2004-2008. In 2008 he was elected as the 44th President of the U.S. and sworn into office January 2009.
