Kasich was born May 13, 1952 in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school Kasich earned a B.A. from Ohio State University. His public office career began in 1978 when he was elected to the Ohio State Senate at the age of 26, the youngest member of the Ohio Senate in the state's history. Six years later he ran for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives for Ohio's 12th district and won. Kasich would serve in the House for 18 years. In 1999 Kasich explore ad Presidential run but quickly exited the race. He then joined the private sector working as an analyst for Fox News. He also worked on the boards of several investment corporations. In 2010 won election as the Governor of Ohio where he continues to serve.
