Palin was born in 1964 in Idaho, but moved to Wasilla, AK when she was young. Palin attended several schools, but eventually graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho in 1986. Palin worked as a broadcaster before helping her husband with his commercial fishing business. Palin entered politics in 1992, being elected to the Wasilla City Council. She then held positions as Mayor of Wasilla and served on several Committees in Alaska. In 2006, Palin won the Alaska Gubernatorial race. She then was nominated as Vice President to Republican Ticket winner John McCain in 2008, but never held office as McCain did not win the Presidential nomination.
